Talon Introduction

I bought my 1990 Eagle Talon from a friend of Meg’s. I picked it up for a paltry $700, because it had some body damage, and the former owners didn’t really know what was going on with it. It was running off the battery, like the alternator was dead. However, they’d just replaced the alternator, and the battery, and the fuel injectors.

So, I started doing research on the web, and ran into the Colorado DSM Club, where I learned *lots* about the car, and what it’s capable of in the long run (can you say “Corvette Killer”?). I got the car towed home, and spent a couple afternoons busting my knuckles for the first time in a *long* time, getting the Alternator and the battery out, getting them tested, etc. They were fine… Someone suggested on the co.dsm mailing list that the Alternator Fuse be checked to make sure it was working properly. Sure enough, that’s what the culprit was… At first, I thought that the fuse was *missing*, but in the process of replacing it, it appears that the old fuse was destroyed in the process of trying to remove it, as though whoever was removing it didn’t know that it was a “bolt-in” style fuse. Once I got the fuse replaced, the car ran great for a little while, and even made a trip up to Fort Collins to go see the movie “Driven” with other members of the DSM Club.
