I had my very first experience with *court* today.
When Kathlene decided to go over the hill, and had her run-in with the Denver PD, she told quite the pack of lies to Officer Kevin Malloy (who, incidentally, is no relation to Adam-12’s Pete Malloy, however). She told him
- That she was Katelyn, her 10 year old half-sister,
- That she didn’t know her phone number,
- That she didn’t know her mother’s phone number,
- She called her sister Katelyn a week ago, and had dialed the phone herself, but didn’t know *any* digits to her mother’s phone number.
- She lived at 415 Harrison St (not 412),
- That she was “staying with friends” over near the 7-11 on 8th Avenue,
- That Meg and I had gone to Grand Junction for the weekend and weren’t due back until the following Sunday Night,
- That we’d also given her a *sound* beating right before we left (but didn’t leave a mark on her)
When the officer did stop by to deliver paperwork to us that night, his he said, “I may have been born at night, but it wasn’t *last night*.”
So he gave her a citation for giving False Information to a Peace Officer.
Today was her court date. First time I’d ever been in any kind of courtroom, ever. Long story short, Kat was offered, and accepted, deferrment on the charge – which basically means that she’ll do quite a bit more community service than if she’d faced the judge, but in the end, if she completes it, the charge will be dismissed, and she’ll go on her merry way.
Too much to write, too tired to write more… I was up until about 4:30 last night, and got up at 10 til 7…tired…want…to…goof…off…
