I guess it’s time that I wrote something about September 11th, 2002. I was all full of fire and vinegar to write something the other day, but complacency set in at some point…(probably when I heard Peter Jennings on the TV in the background at work – he’s so….*soothing*…)
I’m very irritated at the course the country’s leadership has chosen moving forward from a year ago. Afghanistan is the new Vietnam (in the sense of being a “war” we can never “win”), and now we’re acting against Saddam Hussein, who’s just quietly been sitting in his corner for a decade. If we’ve been worried about him, that information sure hasn’t been shared with the American Public all this time. Why not? Why is is *suddenly* a priority? It worries me.
Watching/hearing ceremony after ceremony bothered me. Of course, also hearing that advertisers jumped on the patriotism bandwagon a year ago, and now are hearing that it’s time to stop didn’t surprise me. Nor did hearing that the U.S. started going to church after 9/11…for about 2 months – then it was back to the old way of doing things. I think that’s what it’s all about – we’re finally to a point where we’re ready to move on, and we’re just waiting for the media to move on…and eventually, the government will move on, as well, I suppose. I am just so tired of hearing about it. Then again, I’m really tired of having a war-monger for a president, too… Only two more years…(Another 1-term Bush, huh?)
