Got ambushed this morning with a Monitor Install Project…
See, the way it went down was that Helen (My boss) was talking with a rep for the monitor company…and placed an order for the 200-odd 30″ LCD’s we’re going to need to finish the Monitor Replacement Project.
Helen asked several weeks ago…”when will they ship…we don’t have a dock to recieve them at, so that’s a problem”
Rep says, “I’ll get back to you on that…”
Couple weeks goes by, Helen calls back…
“When is the shipment shipping, we need some warning so we know where to put them…”
“I’ll get back to you on that…”
She got back to Helen….Yesterday…trying to figure out where the truck was supposed to go…
So Chuck and Marshall both worked overtime to unload some 216 monitors that weren’t supposed to be here yet. Helen takes them to Bennigan’s for dinner as an AttaBoy. (or is that EattaBoy? I dunno)
Brent and I spent 3 hours this morning unboxing the first 48 NEC-Mistusbishi LCD3000, getting serial numbers, numbering them for installation, etc.
Then comes lunch…then comes the news that we’re installing first thing in the morning…and they’re uninstalling tonight…and since Chuck isn’t in today, and Brent and Marshall are ‘the early crew’…Escorting the work crew tonight falls to me…
OK, no worries, I can do that easy…
Oh, *and* I need to be back at work to help with the install at 7am (which means leaving the house at 5:35am…after getting home who knows when…
Then comes getting the concourse ready for the UNinstallers to come through…starting at 5pm… (keep in mind that I work 10a-6:30, and that there are, basically, 50 monitors to remove, and you start to get the picture…)
5pm shows up, and I fetch the guys who are going to be doing the Heavy Lifting…and there aren’t *4* of them…there are *2*.
The Picture becomes a little fuzzier…and 5am a little earlier…
Fortunately, it all has a good end… We kicked ass and took no names (too busy writing down serial numbers to bother with names!), and I was on my way home at 9:00pm for a 9:15pm Skyride to Northglenn… *WOOT*
5am now seems doable…
Called Helen to let her know I was done, and she asked how many guys they sent… I told her, and we talked about how it went for a bit, then she said I should plan on showing up at my regular time tomorrow… *YEEHAW*
8am wakeup call? I can DO that!
I’m beat… *grin*
