My boss, Jim, is pissed today because we had a bunch of micro-errors that wound up with us having 14 (fairly unused) Flight Information Monitors that would have been displaying incorrect information – had they been turned on.
1.) Network Failure at some point that resulted in the loss of data being driven to those monitors.
2.) Failure by the folks that work in that area daily to call Maintenance Control to report the trouble with the monitors.
3.) Self-appointed-intervention in OUR equipment by the same folks – turning off the monitors, rather than trying to figure out who to talk to in order to get the issue fixed.
4.) The FIDS techs all assuming that another FIDS tech had turned the monitors off for some reason (presuming they’d been directed to do so by someone at some point.)
Chuck and Marshall are in the back room having a huge bitch fest about everything they hate about the systems they work on. I’m ready to break out some torches and pitchforks for them.
Why can’t we all just get along…
