So what kind of job do you do exactly , you said you were working with video cards or something?
I’m an IT Systems Administrator for Denver International Airport – the Passenger Information Systems, specifically.
Whether you’re meeting someone, and you check the monitors on Level 5 to see when their plane gets in, or if you’re looking at the monitors over the bag claims to make sure you’re at the right one, or if you’re flying out, and check to see if what gate, or if your flight’s time has changed – that’s my job. The Field Services guys replace broken hardware – My team is responsible for ensuring the data’s there to be displayed.
Oh, and those nifty new designs at the bag claims, where it flashes in big letters which claim you’re at for 3 seconds every 10 seconds? My design. =)
It seems that it’s just about that time of day again (not that I work on Saturdays, but still…)
Today was a good day.
I went to bed around 1am, after having stayed up screwing around answering questions on OKCupid for many an hour last night. (I’m not kidding around when I say I’m *over* *it*)
This morning, I got up around 9:30, showered, weighed myself. I’ve lost almost 10 pounds this week. Stresssssss. Well, that and only eating when I actually got hungry. Less calories == Less Weight. Whodathunkit?
I took the dog downstairs for her morning ‘constitutional’. I noticed that *yet another* apartment here is empty, and I saw both of the guys who lived downstairs’ cars across the way in the parking lot, and put 2 and 2 together. They moved from the ‘1br + large Study’ type apartment that I’m in, to a proper 2 Bedroom apartment. Dur.
I’m wondering where the hell everyone else is moving to, though?
* The Gay Guys only lived in their apartment for about 4 months,
* The two guys below us switched apartments – mystery solved – but where did *those* people go?
* The Married Couple upstairs across the way moved out.
* The Junior Doctors downstairs across the way looked like maybe they lost their roommate or something – they were only there for a few months, too.
* There’s a 3BR apartment where Nose likes to poop that’s now empty…
Where the hell are all the people going? This is a nice complex, but it’s hardly expensive…I mean, it sort of is for me, because paying for two garages tacks on another $160/mo, but it’s still cheaper than most other places in the area. I round rent up to $1200/mo, but that’s because she and I were so *very, very* broke for so long that I wanted to build up a cushion in the account, just in case something happened and we came up short at the first of the month.
Enh.
Checked my email, Played some EvE. I’ll be ready for Minmatar Cruisers at 1:30am tonight. I’ll have that Stabber sooooooooonnnnn. *yay*
I got dressed and got in the car. I thought I would go buy a pair of jeans to replace the one almost serviceable pair I have left (the beltloops are torn, and I’ve had ’em so long I’ve worn spots through in the crotch – “Serviceable” is using the term VERY loosely)
I walked out with $202.44 worth of new clothes.
* 3 pairs of jeans
* a pack of black undershirts
* a pack of white undershirts
* a pair of dress pants
* Black button down
* White button down
* 2 pairs of sweats
* A black and gray hoodie
* A blue and yellow zipup hoodie (There, now I can go use the gym here in the complex in something that’s not “business casual” or jeans!)
I tried them on. Since this thread is about talking about your day the way you would with someone you’re living with – I’d give someone I’m living with a fashion show. As it would be with them, so it is with y’all. Enjoy (or not!)! Click for big versions of Kinda Fat Old Single Guy In Kickass New Clothes.

Now I just need some new shoes – I’ve been wearing the same damn ones since Christmas of **2006**, and I’m all set.
I feel *fantastic* – like a (22 stone) weight has been lifted from my shoulders. Yes, it sucks (a lot) that the woman that I wanted to spend my life with has left – but at the very same time, I KNEW that *something* was wrong, and that all the probing and asking questions would never result in getting an answer. And now that the truth is out there (sorry, not like that!), I’m really, really, really OK that she’s gone. I hope she finds the happiness she’s looking for.
Funny thing, though. Financially, she just *totally* missed the boat.
Last March, we bought cars. An $11,000 BMW for me, and a $26,000 Wrangler Rubicon for her – on the presumption that she could work full time at *at least* minimum wage, and we’d be able to keep our standard of living. Well, you guys read the news, too… Didn’t really work out that way, and we were broke-ass FUCKS for the whole time since then. We turned the Jeep in (Voluntary Surrender – our credit’s trashed from skipping credit cards in favor of rent anyway) Wednesday morning. Ran the budget again, and it looks like I’ve got an extra $1000 PER MONTH now.
Not to be petty, but damn, I hope she likes that Wal-Mart job what’s waiting in the wings for her. Gotta be so much more fun than being able to stay at home and play WoW all day, hm?
Tonight, I think I shall work on my 4-box team of Shaman, Druid, Mage, and Priest in WoW. Just that kind of night.
So? How was you guys’ day? (As you can see, mine was MUCH better…)
