On this Thanksgiving, I’m finding that the thing I am most thankful for is the last thing I expected to be thankful for.
I’m thankful for being single, and for doing this on my own.
I’ve had some pretty hard times recently. Days when I didn’t know if I could (or would) get through.
But today? Today, I am ok. I rode the motorcycle to Black Eyed Pea and had some wonderful ham and roast beef and pecan pie.
Thank you to my family – Kay Barton, Kelly Barton and Kristi Blackmore – for the great home we had when we were young. You guys set me on the path to being who I am today, warts and all. All the good things about me, I totally blame on you guys.
Thank you to Ben Kenison, Audrey Lee, and the rest of the Goondock Saints for making Tuesdays the best day of the week.
Thank you to Ann Meade for trying so very hard to make sure that it’s OK, even when it’s really not.
Thank you to Eric Starling for spending an evening sharing motorcycle travelling tales. I am inspired. And planning….or is that scheming? I’m not sure.
And thank you to Steph VanLangenhoven, for being the most beautiful human being I know. I doubt you realize it, and even if you did, I imagine you as being most likely to respond with a “Pffft…what EVER…”, but you are definitely “good people” as they say, and I’m glad to count you among my friends. Hug the dogs for me, wouldja? I kinda miss ’em. =)
Happy Thanksgiving, my friends.
