48 Degrees and the best Valentine’s Ever!

This morning, I woke up after sleeping somewhat fitfully. I had some pretty bizzarro dreams that I cannot remember – only that they were very, very strange.

I need to back up a bit.

Yesterday was Valentine’s Day. I found a monkey holding a heart that says “I’m wild about you!” on the counter, along with some chocolate, and a wonderful card from Ann. She’s really the best. The monkey had just the sort of cheese factor (It being a bright red monkey, in the end) that I truly adore.

However, this was not the most surprising part of the day, and neither is the reason she’s the best Valentine ever.
See, we’ve been gaming together rather a lot recently – and by ‘gaming together’, I mean ‘She’s been playing tons of Oblivion on the XBox, while I navigate for her by reading stuff on the UESP.net wiki’, for the most part.

We played a little World of Warcraft a while back, and we got started in January with Lord of the Rings Online. She’s very open to the idea, but has on a number of occasions said that WoW (and now LOTRO) aren’t games that she would really play without me – but if it’s something we can do *together*, that’s awesome. This past Sunday night, we played Lord of the Rings Online together for the first time since my laptop came in. Before we got started, I asked if she’d mind a suggestion on a new Race/Class combination to try. Her first character is/was an Elven Guardian (and I rolled an Elven Minstrel to compliment her and keep her alive later – and I am really not sure how to go about explaining the concept of a ‘tank’ to her at this early stage. Additionally, the Elven Starting Story is kinda…well…suck. Not at all familiar to those whose most recent exposure was watching the Jackson movies all the way through a few weeks ago. She replied that she’s open to any and all suggestions, since she doesn’t really have a grasp on what she’s doing at this point anyway. I suggested a Hobbit Hunter, and we played partway through the introduction before we went to bed.

So. Valentine of Awesome.

I came home yesterday, and she was playing Lord of the Rings Online. On her own. Without me. Can I get a *squee*? Hell Yeah! She’d completed the Introduction, and was running around the Shire. I blew through the rest of the Intro, and popped out into The Delving Fields just about the time she wrapped it up and was ready for bed. I brought the laptop upstairs and caught (mostly) up to where she was before going off to the aforementioned fitful sleep.

I woke up this morning, and checked the weather on my iPhone. 47.6*

“That’s got to be left over from yesterday afternoon.” *refresh*

47.6*

“The website must be slow.” *refresh*

47.7*

“GAH!”

That’s 0.3* cooler than it was the last time I rode one of the motorcycles to work! That was back in October, and 48* was just a little bit chilly, overall.
I *flew* out of bed, through the lather, rinse, repeat cycle, into some clothes for the day, and out into the garage.

…where I spent twenty five long and frustrating minutes trying, unsuccessfully, to get the DR-Z to start – to include hooking it up to the battery charger, because I was running the silly thing down.

*grumble*

Then I got in the car and drove to work.

Not so much drove – I was flying low.
