Spent 30 hours working on the Talon Saturday, Sunday and Monday…
First off, I need to thank Bert Downing and Erik Arentzen for their LOADS of help, and Ms. Downing for being *SO* patient while I took her STBH away for the weekend, and took up the whole garage in the process…
Got the Timing Belt replaced, Got the transmission cleaned up, Got the clutch replaced with a CenterForce Dual Friction.
It was an adventure… The Water Pump Pulleys that took me by myself 10 minutes to remove took Bert, Erik and myself an hour and 21 minutes to install… I can’t believe the number of times I heard “Uh, oh…*that* is not good.”
The water pump had no blades on the back of it (y’know, the part that makes the water circulate?). They wound up in the block… 3 hours of trying to locate them, and then fish them out paid off in spades. Many thanks to Erik for the ingenious idea of Magnetic Pickup tools…and thank goodness the blades weren’t aluminum!
Reverse Gear came back, after being missing for some time… *YAY*
The car runs better, I think the cam gears were off by a tooth.
On the down side, with the water pump working fully apace, I blew out a radiator hose on the way to work this morning (I think – I still haven’t been out there to look at it and see what exactly happened…)
Welp, time to head out the door…
*2005 EDIT*
This was a Tuesday.
Thursday, I determined that I’d warped the head slightly, and the cylinder pressure was pushing all the coolant out the overflow bottle.
I couldn’t afford to/didn’t want to take the time and energy (after 30 hours of work just complete) to replace the head.
Shortly thereafter, I sold the car to Jake Latham for $1200.
He parted it out.
EAGRTLN is dead.
Long Live EAGRTLN
