  1. Like I said, this place doesn't suck.
When you guys were going out to GI Jody's, and I joined you, it was awful. There was one person not in our group who could sing.

The Talent:Turkey ratio at The Rear Inn is about 9:1.

  2. It's not about whether or not the people who  _participate_ in karaoke can sing. It's about going out and having fun with your friends.

As a person who doesn't actively participate, I will never harsh on someone who has more balls than I do. It's also ridiculously easy for me to tune whatever is happening around me out.

If you are insistent on going to see talented people, find a competition.

I thought this bar was terrible (like several of the other bars we have been to. To each their own.

  3. Therein lies the individuality rub.
I'm a pretty hardcore introvert – in the sense that crowds and noise are (incredibly) fatiguing for me. I thought Euclid Hall was pretty amazing, but it was so noisy and crowded that I was ready to go before we even got drinks.
It's not ridiculously easy for me to tune out whatever is happening around me, and screechy, squawky awful singers set my teeth on edge, which shortens my already below average "useful lifespan" in a noisy place.
So, a bar that looks like it got stuck in the 1970's, has no food to speak of, has a boring KJ, and is all around pretty divey, but is quiet enough that you're not shouting at each other all night and has mostly talented singers will (for me) edge out one that that has great food, modern decor, a superb sound system, but has shitty singers.

…I'm even working up the nerve to sing.
