There are plenty of ex-forces people who killed people then became actors (or vice versa). Audie Murphy and Christopher Lee certainly killed people, and I'm pretty sure Richard Todd did, too.

A little digging shows that in addition to wielding a mean carving knife, Julia Child probably never killed anyone…directly, anyway…while serving with the OSS in Ceylon/Sri Lanka during WWII.
