Northern Colorad Airshow 2002

Sunday….MMMMmmmm Air Show… MMMmmmmmmm.

First time Meggie’s ever gotten to go to an airshow…so it was great… all in all, the getting there, and the getting home part were sucky, aside from the wonderful company,  And it was too hot. And we made the mistake of looking at the website for more information…where it clearly said… NO bottles. No Cans. No Coolers of any type… Bring chairs, sunscreen, a hat, a blanket… Well, apparently 2/3 of the people there didn’t see the website, and the gate geeks didn’t care, because there were lots of coolers and food and bottles and such present… We felt so underprepared once we got there, and fought our way through an hour’s worth of traffic jam…and it resulted ultimately in Meggie getting…hmmm…not heat exhaustion or heat stroke…not hot and dry or cool and clammy..but certainly heat sick… she got pretty wobbly and nauseous right at the start of the Blue Angels, so I stood in front of her and blocked the sun while she sat… It worked out pretty perfect, in that we were sitting just offset enough from "Show Center" that she could look left or right around me and see everything that was going on… She’s such a trooper…she was so worried about ruining my fun (even though this was her first airshow, and I wanted it to be perfect for her…)

Once the Angels were done, we moved immediately over to the shade of a food booth and got her some water and that nice shady breezy place to sit for a while… She said she felt better immediately, and that she started feeling better once I was shading her… After that, we finally got a chance to walk around and look at all the displays. We also got a chance to see the warbirds leave. 2 Stearman biplanes, a Jucker Jungmeister? 4 SNJ’s, a Mustang, an F/A 18E SuperHornet (Rhino is what I hear the fleet calls them), and a Hawker Sea Fury…

Thought seriously about seeing how much the biplane ride was… 🙂

I asked her at one point if she’d had a good enough time to go again, given that we were more prepared… She said definitely…

I love that woman…she’s the best…I’m *SO* glad she had a good time…  🙂 🙂 🙂
