Got the first two disks of Firefly from Netflix last night…
I can’t freakin’ ***believe*** I missed out on this show when it was on. I remember hearing good things about it, but never watching it. Now that I’m seeing it on DVD…what a freakin’ cool show. Put the first disk in around 7pm, finshed up around quarter to 1 – and still have 3 or so episodes to watch…
With a smidge of luck, maybe the movie will bring back the TV show?

Friggin’ Carmel Companies is trying to screw me on the deposit from my old apartment… Yeah, like I wasn’t expecting that. They replaced the carpet in my apartment, and charged me $600-odd dollars to do it.
Uh… No.
No doggy pee in this apartment, I’m afraid – Y’all are outta luck. Just some kitty hairball marks hither and yon.
I used the carpet cleaning machine on them and they came right up. I admit that I didn’t clean the carpet to 100%, but I damn sure cleaned it enough with my little “Hobbyist” machine to be absolutely sure that the guy with the BIG FRIGGIN VAN FULL OF CARPET CLEANING MAGIC sure wasn’t going to have a problem with the spots that I didn’t do. Thank god I was smart enough to take pictures with the Digital Camera of the whole process. The stains, the machine, the stains post-machine (but still damp), and again 2 hours later showing no “water damage” from the process of cleaning the carpet.
I’m sending them a letter demanding they retun the $170 of my deposit I’m entitled to without the charge for replacing the carpet, or I’ll be contacting a lawyer (on the cheap – since one of the benefits of working for the City is “Legal insurance” of sorts. if it’s not on the list of “free” services, it’s 80% of the “Usual and Customary” charge…)
Did I mention that Firefly is awesome, and I’m bummed that it’s cancelled?
Why the hell didn’t Sci-Fi pick it up, like they did for SG-1 (which is teh suxxor by way of comparison…)
Another 4:30am workday on Saturday… Not that I’ll mind much, since the Denver Tour is this weekend, so I’ll get off work around 12:30 or so, and head over to the Mount Elbert parking lot and root for the friends that I have who are racing this weekend.
In other racing news, I scored Grandstand-5 Tickets to the Denver Grand Prix for Saturday and Sunday both for $75, which is what I was planning on paying for 2 General Admission tickets for Sunday-Only…

Yes, Firefly is awesome. Biggest reaction I get from new viewers seems be – That’s all there is? But don’t you go saying my SG-1 sucks. 😛 And I suspect they didn’t pick it up because Fox wouldn’t sell for a price they liked. I hope they can pry it out of Fox’s hands after the movie.
And the last apartment I was in tried to screw us about carpet (we have cats) and we told them they should at least subtract the nonrefundable pet “deposit” – what else was the money for?
I like SG-1, too (though I’m finding it hard to find/make time to plow through *6 seasons* worth of DVDs to catch up). So much so, that I’ve considered buying a Tokyo Marui P90, and a Blackhawk Omega Vest to go along with an Olive Drab flightsuit to play Airsoft with…
…But *in comparison to Firefly*, it is *teh* *uber* *suxxor*.
A Firefly LARP/Airsoft game would allow me to at least reuse my Adria Boots. 😉

To me, the beginning of SG-1 is the best – Season Four is my favorite and other than some isolated episodes, it’s gone down hill. But I’d still rather watch that then, you know, Survivor, or Desperate Housewives or whatever. I cautiously like the new characters this season, except for Vala. I hate her.
I am definitely planning on picking up the new Firefly RPG at Gencon.
