Virtual Online Racers Monday Night.

Raced with VOR in rFactor on Monday Night. Summary Follows.

Total off night…Thought the race was *NEXT* week (has it really been two weeks already?!?!?), so I had *NO* practice and *NO* setup.
So, I thought I would go with my initial gut instinct try the (much more stable than PCC for me) V8s this time out.

Didn’t last three laps. Got all the way around the track the first lap (without touching anyone, much to my surprise, considering how many “Cold Tire Syndrome” cars I remember threading through). Got a bit out of shape, and a couple PCCs went by. I caught up to, and passed them just going by the pits. Got ’round turn 1 easily enough, but the PCC behind me felt very much like he was giving chase – HARD.

I came in a little too hot to the esses, and the PCC was hard on my heels as I was braking at about 70% effort.
I felt like I had two choices.
* Keep the same braking effort, and go straight into the wall, bounce off of it, and hit the PCC, too, and possibly the PCC behind him, as well.
* Stomp on the Stop Pedal harder, and get rear-ended by the PCC, *THEN* hit the wall, the PCC, and probably the PCC behind him, too.

I chose Option #3. The Escape Key, fumed for a minute, and then went back to working on trackmaking from scratch in 3dStudio Max.

*EDIT*
Wow… Just…wow….
I finally got done watching the replay.
I’m a MUCH crappier driver than I thought!
1.) Worried about tapping theguy ahead of me, I ***BOGGED*** the launch – BAD…resulting in a tap from behind, and then HIM getting tapped from behind…and 5 PCCs going around my boggy buns.
2.) Completely forgot about coming into 3-4-5 hot on the first lap, and tagging the wall completely on my own.
3.) COMPLETELY forgot about climbing the curb on 5, and getting sideways, putting me in a pack of PCCs going down the straight. (AWESOME tight racing there, guys!) Would have been quite interesting the, what…*6* of us? going through that corner all in a bunch…NOT. 🙂
4.) Because of coming into the corners too hot, I braked too early for the next set of corners, and pushed all the PCCs out in front of me. Threaded an accident there.
5.) PCC1 & 2 were out in front of me on the long backstraight. Threaded them both when they got mixed up and turned around in 13.
6.) the start of Lap3 is where I thought I was boxed in between a corner and a car. BZZT. WARNING: Objects in mirror appear closer than they are, and make you miss your braking point like a big ol’ GUMP, and you just kick yourself as you put your own self back into the wall – RIGHT where you tagged it last lap.
I’m such a Dufus. *hangs head*
