Sooo…

I really should update more often. It feels like it’s been a year since I really have. I mean, not counting silly ‘blogger’ public crap, right?

I bought Vista about 6 weeks ago. I turned off User Account Control, and I actually like it. I’m shocked.
I became a Goon, too, right around the same time…September…7th? I think?

I bought an iPhone. My HTC Wizard (decked out in Cingular 8125 Trim) was sent in for Warranty Repair after 6 months, when the Headphone Jack became unseated. 13 months after I bought it, the Power/USB jack became unseated. First, I had trouble getting it to Sync…then one night, I went to plug it in, and the jack just pushed into the body of the phone. I had one of THOSE moments. I said…actually SAID, in my outloud voice…”Oh, That can’t be good.”

*sigh*

So, what with the Warranty being up, I went to the AT&T Store, where the best deal they could offer me was to waive the $18 upgrade fee, and sell me a basic phone at Retail. $170.
Wait, wut?
It’s $170 for a new phone, and $175 to cancel, and just go get a screamin’ deal off of Point.com or something as a new customer?
Affirmative.
They suggested that I call Customer Care, and perhaps could have a new handset billed to my account.
Called Customer Care. no dice. $170 for a vanilla phone. None of the features I’d come to use all the time, like being able to get my work email on it, etc.

So, I started looking at Point.com for a new plan and phone, and the thought hit me to go look at the iPhone…just for wishful thinking drooling shits and giggles.
Lo and behold, they have several payment options.

* Bill Me Later (The service)
* iTunes gift Certificate(s)
* APPLY NOW FOR THE JUNIPER VISA CARD WITH iTUNES REWARDS.

OK, what the heck, the worst they can do is (likely) say no.

…Wait, wut?

OK, so I take the 8GB phone out of the basket, put the 4GB phone in, add overnight shipping (since I have no phone), and the grand total is $555.
I get the phone at 9am on the day of the Great Apple Price Slashing…which happens at 3pm.

…*sigh*…

Get all ready to send the phone back in it’s entirety, and just buy a new, lower price, 8GB model, when I’m pointed to Apple’s 30 Day Price Matching Guarantee.
So, I called ’em, and they refunded me a couple hunnerd bucks on the cost of the phone…*yay*
