So, have I mentioned that I want to live forever?

No, really… I do.

The thought was inspired by the writings of Ray Kurzweil, who talks a bit about a coming ‘technological singularity’, and I find the possibilities intriguing, at the very least.

Read here for some background.

Got that? Especially the bit about mapping the brain?

I figure, if I can live to be around 70, and in good health, there’s not really any reason that I *couldn’t* live forever.

I’m just oh, so curious as to learn “What’s next?”
I mean – if we can replicate the brain in it’s entirety – right down to the neurons that provide memories and personality, what’s to say that one couldn’t get shot into space and actually go see for oneself what’s orbiting another star? With a non-biological self (that could presumably be turned off and then restarted at a later date), it wouldn’t really matter how long the journey was, now, would it?

Slow tour of the Galaxy, anyone?
