*AFTER GAME REPORT*

FIASCO may possibly be the best game I have ever played.

PLAYSETGangster London

WHEN – London, 1997.
THE LOCATION – Stan Fish's Gentlemen's Entertainment Club
THE LOCATION – You Do Not Ask What Goes On Back There.

THE CAST
+Jonathon Barton – Alastair McCrowley. Owner/Manager of Stan Fish's Gentlemen's Entertainment Club. Trafficker in Fine Specimens of Chicken. Friends with Vincent Antonelli, and is (coincidentally, through a quirk of storytelling) everyone else's boss.
+Derik DaSilva – Vincent Antonelli. Newly off the boat from Italy. Works as a busboy at Stan Fish's. Friends with Alastair McCrowley (They're mates, and totally not shagging or anything). Also, they work together.
+Sandra Scott – Leila Campbell. Dancer at Stan Fish's. Knows Rebecca through gambling. Needs to get laid… …for the last time…
+Audrey Lee  – Rebecca/Rybekkhah/R'b'Qua/something. Gambling socialist activist dancer working at Stan Fish's.

ACT ONE
Totally full of Rebecca trying to get Vinnie and Leila to come to her super double secret Socialist Meeting, and Alastair trying to keep his employees at work through the evening, and to subtly foil plans to organize against him.
Also, he keeps trying to get Vinnie alone to talk about a "big job" he has for him, if he's interested…
Leila tries to convince Alastair that Vinnie should go home early because Vinnie is about to have explosive diarrhea. Alastair bets her that Vinnie won't – He doesn't "shit the joint up", she goes to his place. He does, Alastair follows Leila back to her place…she takes the bet.

For the most part, it was just establishing scenes, without very much conflict. I wasn't sure we were "doing it right"…but we did not fail ourselves in the end…

THE TILT
+Sandra Scott Selected "GUILT", and +Derik DaSilva completed the Tilt with "A SHOWDOWN"
+Derik DaSilva selected "INNOCENCE" and +Sandra Scott completed the Tilt with "COLLATERAL DAMAGE".

ACT TWO
…sees everyone leaving the club nearing midnight to go to a pub around the corner – where there is an illicit Socialist Casino going on in the back That Nobody Asks About If They Know What's Good For Them.
Win or lose, doesn't matter – the winnings are redistributed evenly at the end of the night…
Vinnie slips away to make some arrangements about a van full of 40 chckens in 80 cages, then he shows up to the pub – with feathers on his shirt.
Alastair realizes that Vinnie is trying to steal the prizewinning chickens that he was going to have Vinnie drive to the docks of the Thames. A fight ensues (Alastair stabs Vinnie in the hand with a steak knife, pinning it briefly to the table), then a chase (Alastair bolts for the van, running into Leila along the way. She goes with him. Alastair realizes that Vinnie has the keys, so he hotwires the van. A brief chase ensues, but Vinnie is eluded.

Vinnie meets up with Rebecca, and they break into the club looking for the night's deposits. Vinnie and Rebecca get the lockbox that Alastair keeps in his office, and break it open. It's empty except for a white powder that Rebecca inhales. Having come up empty, they torch the place.

Alastair's contact never shows up with the money for the birds, so he goes home with the bird instead. They have TERRIBLE sex.

*AFTERMATH*
Leila, (Three White – GRIM)
Having had the worst experience of her life, goes to the club to find a friend to talk to. She sees it's on fire. She reveals that she has AIDS, and walks into the bar, dying a horrible, horrible fiery death.

Rebecca (Four Black – SAVAGE)
…comes out the front of the club and gets pinched by the cops. She does some hard time for Arson, and Rebecca is diagnosed with Anthrax – apparently someone wanted Alastair dead…horribly dead.

Vinnie (One Black – HORRIBLE)
…comes out the back of the club, and runs and runs and runs, and is cornered by the guys who he was going to fence the chickens to. They beat the crap out of him, and are about to kill him when a rival gang rolls up and pumps lead into the mafioso. Vinnie passes out, and things get better…for a while. He returns to Italy, and is ultimately killed slowly and painfully…by the Family he crossed, which is why he fled to England.

Alastair? (Eight Black – Nothin' to Write Home About)
Finds out his employees were trying to rob/burgle the club, and wound up torching the joint instead.
He receives a couple thousand quid over the actual repair costs from the insurance payout – which just happens to be what he was going to be paid for the prizewinning chickens.
Starts feeling ill a few months later. He is…gravely…concerned.
Goes to the doctor, finds out that the "flu-like symptoms" are just that…the flu.

FIN

I cannot wait to play this FIASCO again…

  1. I'm totally proud of the fact that despite being (at various points) English, Scottish, Irish, American Midwestern, New Jerseyan, and Sylvester Stallone Being Welsh, I managed to NOT be +Kamal Tailor's "Indian On The Internet"!
