+UPS Not only is my "3 day express" package going to take 8 days to reach me, I checked the mail tonight (first time in two weeks – I barely ever get USPS anymore) and I find this…
Care to explain this as anything besides COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE?

I have 6 packages enroute from Newegg and Amazon, being sent via UPS, FedEx, and OnTrac from Commerce, CA.
5 of those 6 are on time for delivery tomorrow, including the second package being delivered via UPS
One, which was ordered, packaged, and dropped to the shipper at the same time, from the same facility, isn't substantially larger, heavier, or different from any of the other packages, won't be delivered for another week. Not Saturday the 28th.
    Not Monday the 30th.
    Not Tuesday the 31st.
Certainly not on New Years Day, I get that. Not a big deal.
    Nope. Thursday. "three days"

Oh, and fuck our UPS driver who can't be arsed to stick the stickers on the door. Judging by the number of stickers on the mailboxes, the driver couldn't be arsed to knock on those doors, either.

Audrey's home and off work all day tomorrow, so we'll see how many drivers do knock on the door.

  2. I can't wait to see what tomorrow brings.
    keep us abreast.
My experiences are very different. Amazon and UPS has never failed on their estimated shipping date by more than one day.
I really have no interest in what funny romantic ideas you might have towards your local UPS driver.
Hope you buy him a nice dinner first.

  3. Tuesday the 31st is our holiday for Christmas Eve.
The timing I have no clue on why it will take extra days especially not knowing where it's coming from.
You could always set up a drop ship to a UPS store and pick it up at your convenience. I feel for those guys that have to hike up apartment stairs and buildings with 100+ stops a day 5 days a week.

  4. Both UPS and FedEx do the same thing with stickers in my apartment complex probably 70% of the time. Fortunately the office staff is good about calling me when I have a package since I don't go check my mail daily.

  5. Are you seriously making poor shipping practices into a platform to bang your political drum?  Holy fuck, that's pathetic.

Edit; Back on topic, I feel your pain here.  I've had nothing but misery dealing with shipping when I lived anywhere that had 2 doors.  All those problems magically cleared up when I moved into a house.  Something that helped me keep my cool was remembering that the driver is being pushed for deliveries/hour and that he honestly faces getting fired for waiting at all.  (Perhaps building any sort of rapport with the driver directly will also help?)

Either way, I hope this resolves soon.

  6. One of these things is not like the others…
Package #1: OnTrac – Commerce, CA -> Denver. Out for Delivery 9:13am
Package #2: UPS – Louisville, KY -> Denver. On vehicle for Delivery 4:44am
Package #3: FedEx – Ontario, CA -> Indianapolis -> Denver. On vehicle for Delivery 6:19am
Package #4: OnTrac – Commerce, CA -> Denver. Out for Delivery 9:13am
Package #5: FedEx – Fort Worth, TX -> Memphis, TN -> Denver. On vehicle for Delivery 6:46am
    Package #6: Louisville, KY….

  7. Looks your stuff is coming home to roost.
I live about 1.5 hours from Commerce, CA this might explain why my deliveries come pretty much on time.
    That and the weather.
Maybe having a detached home helps.

  8. Possibly a plane malfunction. Or it didn't scan.
My sisters package bounced from Ontario Ca, to Commerce City twice before making it to Portland. They tried to route around a storm in SLC that had the corridor shut down.

Poo happens this time of year.

  9. The "storm" in SlC (where I live) was so minor it barely shut things down for the morning. Everything was completely fine by the afternoon. Hell, when I woke up at 10 it was pretty much cleared up. And that was over a week ago.
