  1. I saw 5 minutes and got tired of the cheesy sitcom cadence: funny one-liner, pause for canned laughter, funny one-liner, pause for canned laughter…

  2. I generally don't do sitcoms. A good friend of the family got my daughter hooked on BBT and thus we have been steadily plowing through the season DVD sets.  I find it humorous enough not to mind (and it gives me the moral high ground when I force her to watch my Babylon 5 DVDs with me), but I still wouldn't go out and watch it on my own.

  3. I've seen references to people watching it during my Internet travels but I have never watched it. I'm virtually under a rock the last 30 years as far as it goes….

  4. I'm unashamed. I watch it, I laugh. I don't regret it. The show is dumb, it panders to low intelligence quite frequently, but I don't watch TV to be intellectually stimulated generally. I read for that.
The thing with BBT that I find interesting is that ratings are quite high, yet very few people that I've come across claim to enjoy it. Someone is watching this show, and ratings are exceptionally high for everyone to be doing so "grudgingly". It reminds me of Jim Gaffigans bit on McDonalds.

  5. I'm digging that this post has more comments, almost as many plussssses, and is working on catching up on shares – despite the fact that it's posted as the opposite of the Call to Action on the original post.
Hits me right in the funny bone. =)

  6. It's one of the few shows I actually do watch. Yes, it's ridiculous and often times misses the point on the geek and science fronts, but I still find it amusing. It is a conversation starter and has actually made it easier for people who don't have much of an idea of the whole "geek" world to talk to people who are. It also helps geeks to see a bit better how they can talk to others about their interests too. Most importantly though, it's funny-the show does not take itself too seriously

  7. As for my thoughts on the show itself?

It's what I think "Nerd humor" would sound like, written by the Jocks from the Revenge of the Nerds movies…or the people at CBS – take your pick, it's six of one…

  8. I watch it and I enjoy it. It's a sitcom, it's not supposed to be some sort of transcendental experience. I don't understand people who think that because it's geek-based it'd somehow be genre breaking, or should be held to a higher standard than other sitcoms.

  9. I also don't watch BBT and not really sure of the following for it. I mean, if you like it, cool and take it at that, but not sure why so popular. It's the same feeling I felt about Seinfeld and Friends.
