Prob downstream o2 sensor needs replaced. No big deal, usually.
Like a $35 part, but maybe not for a BMW. It's a plug and play deal. It's as simple as repairs get.
The O/2 sensor on my Z3 goes off if I get the gas cap wrong then stays that way for the rest of the day they are a little sensitive.
+Robert Lutes Indeed, the last time I put gas in it, I found that the gas cap hadn't been turned all the way – it's gotten much stiffer to turn over time, and probably could be replaced.
+Chris Lang It's a $75 part, and I'm pleased to say that it's the first thing in the 6 years I've owned it that's had any sort of "BMW Tax" associated with it. =)
