Lessee… I figured out how to post by email, so I can at least update from work – though I can’t view my Friends page anymore…so…meh. I hope you all are doing ok…
I kicked T-Mobile to the curb last month, because they just couldn’t (well, honestly, *wouldn’t* meet the deal I found on a new phone… I got the Cingular 8125, and thus far, I really like it…especially for a net price of $50… ($200 at buy.com – $150 mail in rebate after 150 days of service with a qualified data plan.) Add a 1GB MiniSD card and the fact that it’s got Windows Media Player 10 (Secure WMA support), and Yahoo Music Unlimited becomes a real bargain at $12/month…crunch all you want, we’ll make more.
My friend Cyrus has been talking on the ColoradoAirsoft forums a bit about playing World of Warcraft…and you all may remember that I was sniffing around for a new game a couple of months back…
So…I found a 7 day trial a couple of weeks back.
Bad move. It’s like crack. Really, really fun crack.
Particularly when you find a guild that’s a bunch of Pirates…on a PvP RP server. 🙂
Sadly, the Captain kind of sucks. He plays a female gnome, but it’s totally, painfully, transparent that he’s a boy in his late teenage years – forever messing with people’s rank in the crew, promoting this one, demoting that one…all on a whim.
So, a couple other players and I have decided to form a new guild…which you can find here. Some of you *looks at half the people reading this* will IMMEDIATELY get the reference… Some things just stay with you…well…forever. 🙂
ColoradoAirsoft… Things are going really well these days… We had a little slump because nobody hosted any games in the entire month of May…then the first game in June was a hardcore WWII reenactment, and that came right after we implemented a $5/year annual dues requirement…but we’ve recovered, and things are starting to roll along… My term as Commanding Officer (analogous to Adrian Duke) is
coming to a close in November..and to that end, I’m taking a new persona….and I’m returning to my Adrian heritage and taking a Scottish Persona…Colour Sergeant Sutton McGroyne of the Black Watch – Royal Scots Regiment – Her Majesty’s Royal Army. Ach! I’m sae lookin’ forward tae tha’…
Well, I think that’s about it… Pity about not being able to get to my Friend’s page…that was a real source of enjoyment during my free moments at work… 🙁
I spent a good six months enjoying WoW. But my hubby hit the level cap after about 3 months and a couple of months later he quit, so I didn’t really have anyone to play with anymore. He’s off playing DDO now. I don’t really have time for gaming anymore, but I still wish I could find something that would be the way Everquest was when I first started playing that. I miss that kind of obsession and friendship. Oh, well. As they say, nothing gold can last…
Welcome to the World of Warcrack. Please leave your sensibilities at the door. 🙂
Wonderful guild name. A few friends of mine playing here in San Diego were thinking of the same thing, based on the same origin (I suspect). POssibly naming the guild more specifically after one of the current ships of the line in Terre Neuve (of which one WoW friend is a captain). Tis a small world.
Yep… The Guildmaster has gone to Texas to visit his cousins for a couple of days…and everyone else had a meeting (that he called before he found out he had to leave), and boy is he in for a shock when he gets back…
Several of the older (or at least more mature) players have resolved that some things are going to change…or else. 🙂
What server are you guys playing on? No matter…The Corsairs site is definitely set up to be friendly to cross-server/cross-guild play, if you guys are interested… 🙂
I hope you enjoy going back to Adria. There’s a part of me that really misses it. But with so much water under the bridge, and my close friends not playing any more, I don’t think I could. And I don’t miss all the politcs.
So from one Corsair to another Arrghh…. : )
Oh, I’m definitely not going back to Adria…that part of my hobby career is long-since passed… I achieved the requirements for Knight Premiere, and a month later, I was done. That was…*scratches head* 2001?
I still have the Banner of Ekaterinegorod hanging in a prominent place in my garage, but I’m selling my spurs to a man that I race cars with, and I’m looking at getting my Adrian Boots resoled with something grippier so that I can use them as “ersatz-jackboots” for a WWII German Soldier impression for my Airsoft WWII Reenactment hobby (after all, those are $200 boots!)
No, m’dear, you are correct. Adria has a lot of water under the bridge for me – and it’s something that we just naturally grow out of over time, I believe…
But that doesn’t mean that I can’t take some of my Adrian obsessions, and translate them into my current hobbies… *grin*
