The more things change, the more they stay the same

USMC press blurbs read like they were written during Vietnam. Still.
The photography hasn't improved, either. The equipment is better, the framing and composition still sucks.

Except this one.

The 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing Band played at Lawson Creek Park during a free Independence Day concert in New Bern, N.C., July 4, 2013. Chief Warrant Officer 3 Ben Bartholomew, director and officer in charge of the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing Band, conducts the band during the Independence Day concert. Hundreds of community members attended the event. Jim Leroy, a Marine veteran who served 12 years during the 1970's, said he was glad to see the Marines entertaining those they serve and protect. He also enjoyed the experience with his son, Lance Cpl. Christopher Leroy, a motor transportation mechanic currently serving with 1st Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment. (Photo by Cpl. Scott L. 1. I was just down the road at Camp LeJeune.
My best friend from highschool was a hydraulic mechanic for the AV-8B at Cherry Point.

If you didn't like Cherry Point, you'd have hated LeJeune…

  2. Yep, everything I ever heard about Lejeune was negative. Most of the guys killed in Lebanon were from 2/8 out of LeJeune, and the squadron I rotated with was from MCAS New River. I was stationed in Beaufort, SC which was a much better duty station.
    Were you in the USMC?
