Dear +eBay
First, you got hacked, and every one of your users was compromised.
That's…bad.
Now, I dutifully log in to change my password, and I find out that you will not allow me to *PASTE IN* a truly secure password.
That's right. I cannot use the ultra secure 100 random character generated password that my Password Safe so graciously created for me, because YOU WON'T LET ME PASTE INTO THE FORM.
As a result, my account has some shitty way-less-secure password on it because your IT/web folks haven't got a friggin' clue when it comes to good IT Security practices, and have deliberately chosen to hamstring those of us in the world who can, and would, practice some actual IT Security with our accounts.
Fix.
That.
Yeah, this is on par with the stupidity of the banks,
insisting that they text me a code each time I pay a bill,
OR
emailing my hotmail a notification that my monthly statement is ready to be viewed.
Like neither of those can't be hacked/intercepted.
They're so eager for ease of use, or new fandangled features that they will trip over themselves to provide it, often at the cost of security to their clients.
And when we mere minions try to talk to someone in IT, we get ignored, or branded as a nuisance.
